Sinus headaches can be very painful and annoying. Finding a way to remedy these headaches sometimes takes time. However, here are a few simple tips to help you along.

Sinus headaches can be very painful. The pressure and pain make it difficult to work or perform daily tasks as one normally would. Finding a remedy for these types of headaches can be difficult since different things work for different people. However, there are a great many number of remedies that have been used over the centuries.

Herbal Remedies

Herbal remedies have been useful since the beginning of time. Many people specialize in knowing what herbs can be used for what illness. However, it is very simple for a person to find a cure that works for them. For example, the website for the University of Maryland Medical Center reports that eucalyptus is used as an anti bacterial property that can help you reduce the congestion and infection and clear respiratory passageways. Also, using sinupret can be helpful in getting the sinuses to drain. Both of these herbs can ultimately be useful in treating the sinus headache.

Homeopathic

Homeopathic Remedies are also very helpful in treating a sinus headache. Remedies like: Iris vesticolor can be used to treat throbbing headaches that occur on one side of the head, natrum muriaticum can be used to treat headaches brought on by allergies. Finally, bryonia has been used for centuries to treat headaches that cause a steady, sharp pain. Many times homeopathic remedies can be mixed up in teas so that they are easier to take.

Chiropractic

Chiropractors can be very helpful in dealing with all types of headaches. At times, headaches cause other muscles to tighten due to the increased pain. Chiropractors use things like ultrasound to help loosen these tight muscles. Chiropractors can help these muscles release and in the process help you diminish the headache.

Nasal Irrigation

Nasal irrigation can be a great way to release the pain and pressure caused by congestion. Nasal irrigation systems can be purchased at the local drug store or they can be made at home. The basic recipe for a homemade system is to take ½ cup of warm water with a ¼ teaspoon of salt and use a bulb syringe to squirt it in the nose. Doing this a few times and then blowing your nose can help you loosen and release congestion.

Over the Counter Medications

Over the counter medications can be very helpful in treating the symptom of pain and pressure when a sinus headache strikes. Using nasal decongestants is a good way to help relieve the pain and pressure and to clean out stubborn congestion. However, you should remember that overuse of these products can do a great deal of harm. Using these products too frequently can cause nasal passages to become dry and actually increase your pain.

Antibiotics

There are times when antibiotics need to be used to treat a sinus infection and cure the headache that goes along with it. A good rule of thumb is to remember to see your physician if your headache is not any better after 24 hours of suffering. Many times, sinus infections simply will not let go and require prescribed medication to treat the problem.
